  • Net60 Version 2.1 released

Today Red Five Labs released Net60 Version 2.1

The latest version of Net60 is available from our website for download. All previous evaluators of Version 2.0 qualify for another 30-day trial

Users new to using .NET to create S60 applications can watch our Web Demo for a great introduction.  Our Quick Start Guide and notes on Seeing Net60 in Action are two more fantastic resources to help you to run your .NET binaries directly on your S60 device.

What is new in Version 2.1?

    • The main 'feature' added is touch UI support for S60 5th edition phones. This is partial support at present and we're expecting to have all touch aware Winforms controls supported in our next quarterly release.
    • The new Red Five Labs Mobility Framework which provides managed cross platform support for messaging on S60 and Windows Mobile. The messaging layer supports sending, deleting and listing SMSs in your message folders. Many more managed APIs will be added to this Framework in future to make the lives of developers easier.
    • An improved Net60 Launcher with folder navigation and a wait cursor which demonstrates that the .NET application is loading.
    • Winforms look and feel has been dramatically improved and now integrates to 3rd party components.
    • New -pkg editing functionality in Genesis enables developers to customise their SIS build.

More information about the product can be found in the downloadable datasheet.

We hope you enjoy Version 2.1; we look forward to include many more APIs and features in our next release. If you'd like to see some specific API included in the Mobility Framework please drop us a line at feedback@redfivelabs.com

  • Symbian Sign with Net60

This web tutorial, an 'Introduction to Symbian Signing with Net60', will cover step-by-step how to use Genesis to Symbian Sign .NET applications for S60.

    Webinar Title Page

Genesis, a Visual Studio plug-in which comes with the Net60 SDK, greatly simplifies the Symbian Signed process for users and is a powerful tool to use once it has been mastered.

The web tutorial will also cover the following related aspects of Symbian Signed:

    1. What Symbian Signed is and why it is necessary to distribute applications,
    2. The five Symbian Signed options available,
    3. A demonstration how to Open Sign applications, and
    4. A demonstration how to Self-Sign applications.

Also covered briefly is the Net60 Launcher, which is a Net60 tool that practically bypasses Symbian Signed during the development phase. Net60 users are able to simply copy the .NET .exe onto the S60 device and run it within the Net60 Launcher. This rapidly reduces the build-deploy-debug cycle for devs.

  • Net60 Version 1.0 is now available!

Net60 Version 1.0 is now available!

With Net60 mobile application developers can now use the familiar .NET Compact Framework 1.0 to develop applications targeting the broad range of S60-based Nokia smartphones. The current version supports all S60 3rd edition devices such as the popular Nokia smartphones.

Net60 benefits System Integrators developing mobile solutions as it enables multiple platform support through one codebase, .NET code re-use and offers customers the flexibility of chosing the Nokia E & N series range of smarphones.

Software vendors gain the possibility of targeting the vast market of the S60 smarphone with their .NET code that was purely written for the Windows Mobile platform with little further investment. Sell more applications to a broader audience!

Being able to code faster using tools such as Visual Studio reduces the time to market thereby increasing company productivity. Increase revenue and reduce the cost of development!

A 30 day evaluation license is available. Please visit this page and complete the application form to request a Net60 trial.

Managed support is provided to evaluators on support@redfivelabs.com

We look forward to hearing from you!

  • Beta 3 Refresh

Beta 3 has been refreshed. The timeout expiry date is now set to 28 May 2008.

Whilst the team is busy preparing a great release with many fixes and improvements for the Version 1.0 release, these weren't QA'ed in time for the necessary replacement of the existing beta which times out over the weekend. In this way, beta testers will still be able to use Net60.

Support for the current Beta of Net60, including the download and installation process, is available from support@redfivelabs.com
