  • MVP Program Launched

Red Five Labs has launched its own MVP program.

The free MVP licence entitles participants to create multiple IMEI-linked licences using the Red Five Labs website.

Please visit this link to participate: http://www.redfivelabs.com/net60/MVPRegistration.aspx

As this MVP channel develops we plan to add access to most recent builds, Net60 feature requests and other internal tools and documentation.

The Net60 development roadmap is largely customer needs driven. Our next October 1 release will include partial CF 2.0 support (generics), a date time picker, a DataGrid class, OpenGL support and telephony support.

We'd love to hear from you and how you plan to use Net60 (http://www.redfivelabs.com/forums/default.aspx).

    Regards

    The Red Five Labs Team

  • Net60 Version 1.0 is now available!

Net60 Version 1.0 is now available!

With Net60 mobile application developers can now use the familiar .NET Compact Framework 1.0 to develop applications targeting the broad range of S60-based Nokia smartphones. The current version supports all S60 3rd edition devices such as the popular Nokia smartphones.

Net60 benefits System Integrators developing mobile solutions as it enables multiple platform support through one codebase, .NET code re-use and offers customers the flexibility of chosing the Nokia E & N series range of smarphones.

Software vendors gain the possibility of targeting the vast market of the S60 smarphone with their .NET code that was purely written for the Windows Mobile platform with little further investment. Sell more applications to a broader audience!

Being able to code faster using tools such as Visual Studio reduces the time to market thereby increasing company productivity. Increase revenue and reduce the cost of development!

A 30 day evaluation license is available. Please visit this page and complete the application form to request a Net60 trial.

Managed support is provided to evaluators on support@redfivelabs.com

We look forward to hearing from you!

    Best regards,

  • Beta 3 Refresh

Beta 3 has been refreshed. The timeout expiry date is now set to 28 May 2008.

The download of Beta 3 is available from http://www.redfivelabs.com/content/download.aspx

Please let us know how you intend to use Net60 so that we may best develop it to your needs. For all licensing information and use case feedback please contact Stephane Landier by email on slandier@redfivelabs.com or by phone on +33 253 358 309.

Support for the current Beta of Net60, including the download and installation process, is available from support@redfivelabs.com

  • Mike presents at the University of Pretoria

Recently Red Five Labs has been actively engaging with the software development community in South Africa, and particularly with university computer science and electrical engineering departments.

We were thrilled with the opportunity to meet with the Polelo Research Group and the other honours computer science students at the University of Pretoria.

Prof. Bishop gave us an excellent overview and tour of the department and its facilities.

We certainly look forward to visiting Pretoria again!

  • Rhodes University visits Red Five Labs

Today we had the pleasure of hosting the Rhodes University Computer Science Honours class as part of their field trip exploration of the software development industry in Johannesburg.

The students were able to meet our development teams and learn about real world software engineering practices. They showed much insight into our product.

After the formalities, we threw them a bit of a curve ball by asking them to design a self-propelled vehicle: most teams did remarkably well. More on the event here.

  • Private screening of 'Pirates of Silicon Valley' a success

Red Five Labs screened 'Pirates of Silicon Valley' at the prestigious Cinema Nouveau in Rosebank last Thursday evening.

The event was a rip roaring success! Thank you to all the Johannesburg based software developers that came through for the evening. It was particularly rewarding for Red Five Labs to be able to create a humming community by screening films about the software industry!

If you would like to be kept informed of future events (apologies - only in Johannesburg ), please drop a line to 'reservations at redfivelabs dot com'.

More info about the most recent event can be found here or off our 'Events' page.

Congratulations to Noto at Ardent Solutions who won the LEGO Mindstorms NXT robotics kit which we put up for grabs through our webservice based competition. Better luck to all other participants for the next event!

  • May CTP Release

We’d like to thank all the folks who have downloaded our framework and provided us with a steady stream of (mostly positive!) feedback.

It has been exciting and valuable for us to learn from you what you would like to see in our framework, especially regarding the proposed licensing model.

As the previous release of our .NET Compact Framework for S60 times out on 1 May 2007, a new May CTP has been uploaded to the site. The timeout will now be set for 1 July 2007. Users will receive a “Red Five Labs Timeout’ message after that date. We apologise for any inconvenience caused; we’re just trying to ensure that the community is running the latest version.

If you have any questions please direct them to support@redfivelabs.com
