Unique Product Offering 

Red Five Labs is a venture capital financed software start-up based in South Africa's business capital Johannesburg. The company offers a unique, leading edge mobile software platform that brings the world of .NET technologies to the leading mobile phone operating system, Symbian OS.

History 

Founded in 2005, the company draws on the experience of its founders which overlaps ARM processor architecture, just-in-time compiler technology, the entire gamut of the .NET framework as well as the Symbian OS.

Venture Capital Investment 

In recognition of the product innovation undertaken by Red Five Labs and the potential of the technology, the company secured first round investments from one of South Africa's premier Venture Capital companies, HBD Venture Capital in November 2005. The Innovation Fund, a governmental source of R&D funding, has also funded the development of the technology.

Board Directors

Dušan Babich (CEO)

Dušan is co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Red Five Labs. He studied at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, where he obtained a mechanical engineering degree. In 2005 he was selected as one of the "Class Of" Endeavor Entrepreneurs.

Mike Welham (CTO)

Mike is co-founder and Chief Technology Officer of Red Five Labs. He holds an electrical engineering degree from the University of Cape Town and was also selected as one of the 2005 "Class Of" Endeavor Entrepreneurs.

John Field (Non-executive)

John is Chairman of Red Five Labs. He is the Chief Executive Officer of Anglo Dutch Holdings (Pty) Ltd (FedGroup), one of Red Five Labs' investors.

Grant Field (Non-executive)

Grant is Group Development Manager at Anglo Dutch Holdings.

Investor Information

Red Five Labs was founded and venture capital financed in November 2005.

At present Red Five Labs has as its primary investment partner the Anglo Dutch Holdings company. Anglo Dutch Holdings Pty Ltd (FedGroup) is a privately held investment holding company which invested in the company in May 2007.

Previous investors in the company include HBD Venture Capital and The Innovation Fund.

HBD is a Mark Shuttleworth company and is one of South Africa's premier software technology related venture capital organisations.

The Innovation Fund invests in near-market, technological innovations that lead to the establishment of commercially viable startups. The Innovation Fund invested in Red Five Labs in March of 2006.
